In January this year, Georgia's ferrous scrap exports to Turkey, the country's one of main trading partners, amounted to 2,850 metric tons, decreasing significantly compared to the 14,134 mt recorded in January last year, according to the data provided by the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).

The revenue generated by these exports was $886,000, down from $5 million recorded a year ago, indicating that the country's average export price for ferrous scrap to Turkey in the month in question was $311/mt, down from $358/mt in the corresponding month of 2011. However, Georgia exported 2,210 mt of semi-finished products of iron or non-alloy steel in January this year, with a value of? $1.16 million, with no record of exports of the product in the same month of 2012.

Meanwhile, in January of the current year Georgia's ferroalloy exports to Turkey decreased to 904 metric tons from 4,761 metric tons in January 2012. On the other hand, Georgia's ferroalloy exports to the US in January this year came to 20,707 mt, rising significantly from 2,000 mt recorded in the same month of the previous year.
